3 Truths About Fitness Misinformation

With the explosion of the internet and social media, we're swimming in an ocean of information. But let's be honest, not all of it is good. With all the fitness advice floating around, it's key to distinguish fact from fiction.

Here’s the straight scoop on navigating fitness myths.

  1. Social Media Isn't Always Right: Just because someone has many followers doesn't mean their fitness tips are correct. It probably means they tell you what you want to hear rather than the truth. Make sure to get advice from someone who has a long-term record of success and practices what they preach daily.

  2. No Magic Pills Here: Those advertisements for miracle pills or gadgets that promise instant weight loss? They're too good to be true. Real progress takes dedication, effort, and patience. There are no shortcuts.

  3. The Science Says... Wait, What?:  Sometimes, news articles can make fitness studies appear to have discovered the ultimate fitness truth. However, it's usually more complicated than that. If something seems too good (or strange) to be true, it most likely isn't true.

Our Advice? Long-term success in fitness always boils down to the basics: correct caloric and macro range, a training program that fits into your schedule, hydration, stress control, and good sleep paired with consistency.

How to Approach and Overcome a Plateau

Hitting a fitness plateau can be frustrating. You've been putting in the work, but suddenly, the progress stops. Here's a game plan to help you break through and keep moving forward.

Step 1: Verify the Plateau: First, make sure that you've actually hit a plateau. Look beyond the scale - use measurements, body fat percentage, and how your clothes fit as progress indicators. If all signs show no change within 2-3 weeks, you're likely at a plateau.

Step 2: Mix Up Your Routine: Our bodies are incredibly adaptable. It's time to shake things up. If you've been focusing on high reps, switch to low reps with heavier weights, or vice versa. Consider adding cardio or HIIT sessions to introduce new challenges.

Step 3: Reassess Your Macros: Your nutritional needs change as your body changes. Reassess your macro breakdown to ensure it aligns with your current goals and weight. Sometimes, a slight calorie reduction or a reallocation of macros (more protein, fewer carbs, for example) can jumpstart progress.

Meal Delivery Services: Convenience or Unnecessary Cost?

Many people turn to meal delivery services in their quest for healthier eating in their busy lives. But are they a smart choice?

The Pros:  These services take the guesswork out of portion control and calorie counting, delivering balanced meals right to your door. They're a boon for busy lifestyles, helping you stick to your diet without the meal prep. Plus, the variety can keep dietary boredom at bay.

The Cons: The convenience comes at a price that is more expensive than grocery shopping. While they offer nutritious options, relying solely on them will make you dependent and not create the healthy habits you need for long-term results.

The Verdict: Meal delivery can be a fantastic tool for kickstarting your journey, especially for those juggling a hectic schedule. However, unless you can use the services indefinitely, it is better to build the habit of meal prepping for long-term success.
